Born July 10, 1958 in Toronto, Ontario, Peter Probst was raised in Brampton, Ontario. He started playing piano at age 10 and continued with piano lessons for 8 years. In high school he formed the rock band, O3, and played some solo performances. He also studied French Horn and with that instrument toured Scotland with the high school jazz & concert band in 1973. He went on to study music at University of Waterloo, where he passed his Royal Conservatory of Music Grade X Pianoforte exams with honours. At UofW he joined up with other musicians and eventually played keyboards, sang, and composed many songs with progressive rock band, Mankind, from 1978 until 1989, working with noted producers like Jack Richardson and opening for bands like Triumph and Joe Perry Project (Aerosmith guitarist). Mankind released several recordings including the album, Why On Earth. Peter also co-produced the Mankind music video, Angels Over America, which was nominated for the 1984 New Music Video Awards in Toronto, Ontario.
In 1989, Peter started performing solo with keyboards and acoustic guitar, playing various local venues around Caledon, Ontario, including regular appearances at the Belfountain Salamander Festival.
In October 2007, Peter joined classic rock band, Acting On Impulse. |
